Sandford Stables, formerly Woodhouse Farm Riding Stables, is a friendly, family-run business supported by many 4-legged and 2-legged friends to create an environment that allows us to give our best to our horses and have a magical, fun time.
We believe in developing partnerships and connection with our horses, creating an enjoyable experience for both horse and rider.
Whether you want to ride through our beautiful countryside or have a lesson in the school; whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced rider, we have a ride for you!

Castle Neroche Ride

Castle Neroche is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, on the site of an earlier hill fort in the parish of Curland, near Staple Fitzpaine in The Blackdown Hills.
There are spectacular views over the Vale of Taunton towards the Quantock Hills and Exmoor and, on a clear day, you can see as far as the Mendip Hills and Glastonbury Tor.
This ride takes you through the forest trails with open panoramic view points, here we can tether the horses and enjoy a pub meal at the local Farmers Arms (not included in the price)

Open Group Rides
Whether you are a beginner or experienced rider let us take you on a guided tour through our quiet country tracks and beautiful woodland forests, unique to our location there are virtually no roads.
Private Rides
You can experience any of our rides with a unique personal touch by riding privately either as an individual or in your own private group.
Lessons
From our lessons out in the countryside to our outdoor sand school, we can offer a range of tuition to suit your needs such as learning the basics, ground work, horse connection, jump lessons and more.
Day Rides
For the more experienced rider, these day rides are the perfect way to explore the breath-taking scenes that Devon and Dorset have to offer.
A family run stables
With a passion for horses, Lee, Sarah and their dedicated team have been running Sandford Stables since 2012.
With many years of experience and qualifications Lee and Sarah work in partnership with all their horses and ponies to create a happy and trusting environment between them all.
Previously known as Woodhouse Stables, the Sandford family first opened with 4 rescue horses and slowly the riders appeared.
“The word spread and before we knew it our horse family expanded. Now we are the owners of 25 horses and ponies, running our fully licenced and insured business in the beautiful countryside.”
